If you remember the early days of the internet, you probably remember Foamy, the foul-mouthed squirrel that’s angry at just about everything. Well now he’s back to explain to us a few things about legalizing gay marriage (with some saucy language, so consider yourself warned).
Do you think that this will change folks’ minds on the issue?
What do you think this really means for the United States?

Breaking Same-Sex Marriage News of the Day: Maryland today officially became the first East Coast state below the Mason-Dixon line to legalize same-sex marriage.
Governor Martin O’Malley signed the state’s marriage equality bill this afternoon after the Maryland House and Senate passed the legislation on Feb. 17th and 23rd, respectively.
“For a free and diverse people, for people of many faiths, for people committed to the principal of religious freedom,” O’Malley said at the signing ceremony, “the way forward is always found through grater respect for human rights of all, through human dignity for all.”
Same-sex couples won’t be able to get married until January, when the law formally takes effect. Until then, there is still a chance opponents could successfully petition to have the issue placed on November’s ballot. To do so, they would need at least 55,736 valid signature from Maryland voters.
Seven states — CT, IA, MA, NH, NY, VT, WA — and Washington D.C. currently recognize the right of same-sex couples to marry. However, Washington state’s newly signed bill still needs to fend off a the threat of referendum in order to take effect this June.
It’s amazing how quickly our country is moving forward.

Research has shown that marriage provides substantial psychological and physical health benefits due to the moral, economic and social support extended to married couples. Conversely, recent empirical evidence has illustrated the harmful psychological effect of policies restricting marriage rights for same-sex couples. Additionally, children raised by same-sex couples have been shown to be on par with the children of opposite-sex couples in their psychological adjustment, cognitive abilities and social functioning.
Nahh, it’s totally cool that you think a huge portion of the world doesn’t deserve rights. We should really stop “bitching and complaining” about this silly stuff!
How about this: if you don’t like chicken parmesan, I think you’re probably crazy or something because chicken parmesan is insanely delicious, but I respect your opinion. However, if you think that a large portion of the world’s population doesn’t deserve the same rights as everyone else because they happen to be attracted to the same sex, you’re a fucking asshole and your opinion doesn’t deserve my fucking respect.
I will respect your right to an opinion, but I decide whether or not I’m not going to respect your opinion.
Protip: If your opinion shits on other people, I am not going to respect your stupid fucking opinion.
Haha We take it too far?
Why should people respect others who don’t?
Relevant to my life.
I need to say this, cause it bugs me… having an opinion is everyone’s right. But not all opinions are as simple as strawberry vs. chocolate ice cream. When your opinions hurt others, you actually have to stand accountable. It is my right to have the opposite opinion and to tell you why you are misinformed and hurtful. I have a right to my feelings when you hurt me or harm the people I love. I am free to have the opinion that you are willfully ignorant or a jerk. There is a right and wrong and causing suffering is wrong. The first amendment does NOT mean that you get to say whatever you want without anyone responding negatively to you, if just means I can’t have you arrested or force you to be quiet. Grow up or get off the Internets.
And as tumblr fights back….
