All sexual contact between women carries a risk for infection and we never really talk about it. It seems the idea of creating safer sex is absent from queer women’s culture. Let’s bring it back. Let’s think about what risks we’re willing to accept, and what risks we can reduce. Let’s talk to our partners about our sexual histories. Let’s learn about gloves and dental dams (and maybe even consider using them). Let’s cover shared toys in condoms. Let’s make a date to get tested together. Let’s get a pap smear. Let’s start a dialogue. Let’s spread the word. Let’s talk to our friends about safe sex.  Let’s keep our community healthy.
